The majority of adults in the United States do not get the recommended amount of aerobic exercise. In regards to muscle conditioning and toning, statistics worsen to portray an overall unhealthy society. Most American adults do not get enough exercise to keep their bodies healthy and strong.
Childhood is the best time to start building healthy exercise habits.
Through the heavy use of technology for advantages in the workplace, we are inevitably moving towards a society that favors a sedentary lifestyle. America has moved away from many jobs that demand physical labor and screen time increases as our technology advances. With a fast-paced and ever-changing workplace, adults get used to the technology based work flow. In fact, many adults have jobs that keep them sitting in front of a computer all day long. After sitting for hours at work, it is common for these same adults to go home and relax in front of a television screen. Daily work routines have a tendency to become habits that contribute to an individual’s overall lifestyle.
Additional to the issue with adults, children get very minimal exercise at school. Most physical education classes consist of a lot of time sitting around waiting for turns. It’s not aerobically effective.
Engaging a child in judo elicits short-term health benefits as well as lifelong patterns geared towards healthy living.
It is vital to introduce kids at an early age to the idea that exercise is an essential habit. As parents, it is important to instill the fact that exercise is something that will help our children lead longer, healthier lives. Setting a good example for them is a start, but it is just as important to engage them in a regular activity like judo.

Through this, kids learn that it’s possible to make time for healthy habits and will carry this mentality with them throughout their lives.
